I was out of town this weekend, on a trip to Hampton Iowa for an annual event called the Blogger’s Tour. We were able to see and do, eat and learn, all about what is happening in “flyover country”. Adam Sommer, a new online friend, shares Part I of his experience here:

“Rural America Rules” is a quote that certainly summarizes our family’s experience on a recent visit to Franklin County, Iowa, and was proclaimed by Iowa farmer Jeanie Arends after helping us off the combine we were able to drive on her farmland! Our family was fortunate enough to be invited on Harvest Tour 2012, a weekend long tour of Franklin County, Iowa showcasing historical sites, demonstrating and educating us on where our food comes from and how it is grown & harvested, and of course the highlight of the weekend included all 3 of us driving a real combine harvesting corn!
I will be sharing a summary of my own thoughts on the trip each day this week, with an emphasis on what your small business can do to take advantage of an idea like this.
