Quo Vadis Calendar Review
December 16, 2009 in Productivity
Karen from Exaclair (and on Twitter @exaclair) recently sent me a pair of notebooks and a calendar to review. Since I have been pretty busy catching up with everything since being sick last month, this review has been languishing on the back-burner. This is the third and final post in the series, you can see the entire series here (Exaclair notebook reviews)
I like this calendar. There, I said it. Smooth, high-quality paper, rugged construction, and an opens-flat sewn binding. You can get a faux-leather cover for it as well, to protect it from the stresses of travel and use. The dimensions of the cover are 7 3/8″ x 9 5/8″, small enough to easily fit in most bags, big enough to hold plenty of information.
The page layout is very useful, with each day of the week laid out in a column, with hourly sections from 8am to 9pm, which ought to cover most people’s day. At the bottom of each daily column is a place for notes, and a perforated tab to tear off so that you can easily turn to the current week.
Major holidays are listed, and each day’s entry shows which day of the year it is and how many days remain.
One of the features that I like the most is the space at the top pf each daily column for a “Priority”, this fits in very well with my own Productivity practice and the concept of the “Most Important Tasks” for the day (the one to three things that absolutely, positively have to get done):
Another interesting feature of this planner is the space set aside for meta-data on the right-hand side. Labeled “Phone”, “Fax – Email”, “See – Do”, and “Pay -Receive”, these boxes can perform the role of Contexts for a GTD (Getting Things Done) system (more on Contexts from Bruce Keener). And with a little dry correction tape you can edit these boxes -re-label them into anything you want.
Here is a pic of how well the calendar lays flat:
You can learn more about this calendar at the Quo Vadis catalog page (not an affiliate link) where they even have a link to a free monthly planner PDF download. I definitely recommend this calendar.
[Editor's note to the FTC: I did receive this calendar for free in exchange for a review, no other compensation or expectation of a positive review was expressed or implied.]
